It must be astounding how many blogs out there have "Happy New Year" or some form of the phrase in the title or first line of the first post of the year. I, too, can think of no more clever title today, still recovering from the food, drink, late nights, food - oops - and festivities. Actually, I caught a cold from some anonymous Christmas shopper at Flagstaff Mall. I think what I have hacked up has been as colorful as the wrapping paper in the dumpster.
Gearing up for my Comps this semester. I haven't received the specs from Chuck and Cindy, but I have been reading whenever I can from the books I think/know they will require. I feel confident one minute, then terrified the next. Mostly I keep telling myself that it probably doesn't matter how I do on the tests, since I will probably never be able to use my degree anyway, because of the disability. MS sucks.
Resolutions? Nope. They are only failures waiting to happen. I try every day, so I don't need a holiday to add to my frustration.
Looking forward to movies expected this summer - Pan's Labyrinth sounds fun, and Spidey3 too. I am an old-time Nancy Drew fan, so it might be interesting, except that they have made it more of a parody of how "square" she is/was. Why not just update it to today's standards, or make it a period piece? Pirates, Fantastic 4/Surfer, Transformers, Harry Potter (last gasp), Hairspray, The Last Mimzy, The Number 23 - these so far I look forward to this year. Maybe that is my resolution this year...to actually SEE the movies I look forward to instead of missing them like this past year!
Favorite book today? "Mister God, This is Anna" still ranks up there. I haven't read much but textbooks for so long, I am beginning to think my favorites have "(fill-in-the-blank) University Press" as the publishers.
I love, still, Raiders of the Lost Ark, but am horrified that Ford and Spielberg are making a 4th, considering Ford is too old (sad, but true). Raiders of the Geriatric Ward?
Cheers
Auntie Jane
